The Jungle Giants / Millions / ShortStraw (All Photo of Band members where taken by Brodie) |
ShortStraw were first, excited chatter filled the lounge as the band began to play. 'Coach Potato' first up and small movements covered the crowed as people bopped and swayed to the beat. They continued to play other songs 'bikini weather', and 'Good Morning,Sunshine' (my personal favorite) and created the energy for the next act; Millions. I told the Keyboardist (comment if you know his name!) that I loved their set and that they should do another tour as he was packing up and he told me that I they where surprised i knew who they where. Millions where up and there all white attire was effective. All long brown haired but Dominic Haddad the lead singer. I had Campbell right in front of me who is the Bass Guitarist. A few Excited fans in the crowed let out a cry as they begun with playing new songs. They played all but 'Guru' which was upsetting as it is my favorite one of theirs. Dominic's voice is sweet like cinnamon and he has a charismatic presents about him on stage. Singing to fans in the crowd and staring off into the abyss of people while he sung. While packing up I had a quick conversation with Campbell about how well they played and he called me awesome, It not every day you get called 'awesome' by one of the band members of Millions. Music played waiting for The Jungle Giants to come on, I could see them backstage right next to Brodie while he spoke to me about his shots. People setting up their gear on stage, it was close to show time.
Screams filled the room as they jumped on stage. Girls behind me pushing and pulling to get closer to them. Phones pulled from everyone's pockets and pressing the red button to record. Playing Mr. Polite first the crowd screaming the lyrics. Andrew jumping like crazy in front of me and as the songs went on showered us with sweat and water. Having a cheeky conversation with him in between songs about how hot it was and him generously passing out his water to us all. It was like having a huge dance party with your friend. Sams voice spot on as per usual and Cesira being as cool as ever, they played through the songs. My favorite being 'The Truth May Hurt.' Jumping, Dancing, boogieing and singing it all sadly came to their final song - 'She's a Riot.' After the show I went and met Three of the band members of Millions (all but the lead) and got a photo and they signed my CD for me. Not worrying to line up and meet TJG as we did last time, but instead heading off to our train. Once again such an astonishing afternoon filled with laughter, sweat and sore calf muscles. Always living for live music.
